Living on your own brings back the childhood days of loathing those daily chores. You know, dishwashing, cleaning the floor, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning the kitchen after dishwashing, cleaning the kitchen after cooking, cooking... The list, goes on.
Heita! brings forth a solution to at least one of those chores, and as a bonus will push up your green kudo points quite substantially!
Japanese designer Nobuhiko Arika has designed a collection of edible tableware, with a surprising range of "features"...
By know we all know that dishwashing machines are by far more green, using less water and power (of which we have little enough to begin with). Not having one presents us with the very real problem of not only having to perform the dish washing chore, but also damaging the environment with our wasting of water and power.

Nobuhiko Arika's tableware is special in the sense that it is has taken degradeable to the very limit! The collection, consisting of a plate, bowl and chopsticks is made from hardtack. Hardtack is apparently a biscuit dough made from flour, water and salt and is traditionally used as dry emergency chow when you're at sea.
How does this help you? Well, you make your food, put it in these dinnerware, eat the food, then eat the plates. No dishes. Okay, you will have dishes, unless you live like me out of Woolworths Microwave food!
It's not entirely South Africa friendly, since we don't really rely on chopsticks as a priority eating utencil, and I'm not certain, but I doubt whether eating your morning Kellog's or Wheatbix will be an overly successful idea. Still, the idea is special to be sure!
