Living in South Africa is becoming interesting. I think let's expand that to living in Africa in general.
One of the Waterkloof four, those dudes who killed the homeless guy, is playing national rugby? Uhm, hello? Excuse me here guys, I admit to not really following the story with much interest, or at all, but should they not be in PRISON? Am I missing something here?
The rubbish was picked up yesterday, which is a step in the right direction at least. I saw a signboard saying the strike was called off. Can I ask a question on this though? May I? If I own a large company that provides such a large service (even if it's a dirty business...ha ha ha) to the entire country, and my entire work force goes on the picket line, can I not just replace them? Surely there are enough people out there willing to earn some coin? Surely? Why are we letting this happen, allowing this to be? I know they got rights, and I understand the need to earn more coin with the soaring food prices, but there's ways and means! Most of the rubbish companies are private sector companies! It's business. Do I now not have to pay for those days I had to endure my overflowing rubbish bins? Of course I do! It's absurd. It really is.
Our dear friend Zuma is only going to have his day in the court in 2010... Enough said. Really.
Zimbabwe. Well, really. It's like a first grade primary school fight over class captain... only more childish, and people are dying and suffering because of it.
Buying a normal, cornish pie at BP is now R11.50. They don't even taste good. R23.95 for McDonalds numba 1. Medium.
Is this ship shinking? Is it? It's defenitely not running on full steam, that's for sure. At least we've got some power!
The lighter side? We only have to wait for 2010, because despite the negativity and bad omens, we will have some coin back into our economy, and the pressure could be relieved. Could. Ever so slightly.
What can we do in the meantime? Surely our only options are not to just sit on our rubbish heap and pine about the good old days (two months ago)... Surely we have some options to take it upon ourselves. Yes, we all know it's not our fault, and that most of this is because of a corrupt, inefficient system too taken with itself to worry much about the masses, and we don't need to do anything to help cuz they gotta fix it. But they ain't, and we are still suffering under some harsh environments. Let's find a way? More than that, let's find a way and walk it.
