We have an ever-growing range of unique books on vegan cooking, animal rights, green and anarchist politics, anti-capitalist economics, fringe philosophy, subcultural art, sustainability, permaculture, alternative energy, radical sexuality, psychedelics, esotericism, occulture and the just plain strange.
Who we are:
Picking up where the Earth2 restaurant left off, Further is a left-of- center shop, vegan cafe and networking space for people interested in alternative ways of living; through the products we stock, the food we serve and the events we host, our aim is to engage, entertain and inspire people who like to push things further.
What food we serve: Further is now the home of the Earth2 vegan restaurant that used to be next door. We serve a range of the popular Earth2 meals, but with a focus on lighter, lunch-type foods. We also serve Fair Trade teas and coffees, smoothies, hot chocolates, milkshakes and fruit juices :-)
Further is also the official headquarters of the South African Vegan Society, so you can rest assured that we're still 100% vegan!
What we stock (at really good prices):
We have an ever-growing range of unique books on vegan cooking, animal rights, green and anarchist politics, anti-capitalist economics, fringe philosophy, subcultural art, sustainability, permaculture, alternative energy, radical sexuality, psychedelics, esotericism, occulture and the just plain strange.
We also stock several prominent magazines on animal rights, punk, experimental and electronic music, politics, green issues and more.
You can also choose from a selection of interesting documentaries, music dvds and avant cinema, as well as a modest but growing grab-bag of ethically produced clothing: colourful Nepalese dresses and bags, sloganned shirts and hoodies and some jewellery.
Musically, we have a diverse selection of alternative music, including political folk music, electronica, avant-garde, goth, ambient, postrock, noise, glitchcore, minimalism, field recordings, hardcore, anarcho-punk, spoken word, indie and tribal dance, on CD and vinyl.
Finally, there is always a bunch of random free literature, stickers, badges and more available for interesting people :-)
We hope you'll pop in sometime soon and have a look. For more info, visit www.further.co.za
