| The Symptoms Menopause Changes Estrogen And Progesterone Levels |
The symptoms of menopause are caused by changes in estrogen and progesterone levels. When estrogen drops suddenly, as is seen when the ovaries are removed surgically (called surgical menopause), symptoms can be more severe. Perimenopause begins several years before menopause, when the ovaries gradually produce less estrogen. Currently, hormone replacement therapy (estrogen with or without progestin) is the primary treatment for the symptoms and long-term risks associated with menopause. The work is the latest salvo in a years-long back and forth about memory, menopause, and estrogen. During menopause, the ovaries produce less estrogen than during the reproductive years. As a result, many problems women have with menopause relate to low estrogen levels.
Perimenopause is the span of time prior to menopause when the ovaries' production of estrogen begins to slow down. Women experiencing peri- and postmenopause have found that supplemental estrogen provides the hormones they need to produce and maintain physical and emotional well being. During postmenopause, the depleted level of estrogen can increase other health-related risks such as heart disease and osteoporosis. The lower amounts of estrogen that come with menopause will cause changes in your body. Other Therapies Women also can take selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) to help prevent some of the bone problems that can occur during menopause. Generally in the past when a woman advanced into menopause, a doctor would routinely prescribe estrogen or progesterone in various strengths. During menopause, it is believed that when estrogen levels drop, this decreases the amount of serotonin available to the brain. Many physicians recommend estrogen replacement therapy to: Reduce the undesirable symptoms of menopause.
At this stage, many women experience menopause symptoms (see below). Middle-aged herself, Northrup writes from experience and, more important, from her professional expertise as a physician who has treated many women and researched menopause. A population based survey of women's experience of the menopause. You may begin to experience signs and symptoms of menopause well before your periods stop permanently. Prior to the onset of menopause, a woman can experience major changes in her moods and attitude. Prognosis Although menopause is a difficult period for some, most women will experience menopause without long-term problems. Women in perimenopause transition typically experience abnormal vaginal bleeding such as erratic periods or abnormal bleeding patterns. Women who smoke experience the menopause at an earlier age than non-smokers. However, many women experience major life changes during their middle age including menopause and sleep disturbances, which can increase the risk of developing depression. In the past, menopause was shrouded in mystery and often viewed as a negative experience and a precursor to death. Most women experience menopause between the ages of about but some go through it years earlier or later, as well. "But some fortysomething women are beginning to experience menopause and many find their desire for sex declines," Gupta informed us. Some experience menopause problems that their friends never do. In the western world about 12% of woman don't experience symptoms of menopause and about 14% experience intense physical or emotional problems.
Women and physicians have questions and concerns about the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) during and after menopause. Like Sheehy, she reassured women that menopause encourages a journey inwards towards wisdom and serenity.%u201D Menopausally-provoked spiritual insight continues to strike publishing gold. Several generations ago, few women lived beyond menopause. In some women the early menopause occurs spontaneously. The same may be true of women approaching menopause, many of whom live a life filled with stress and worry. Malnourished women begin menopause about 4 years earlier than well-nourished womenEarly onset of menstruation. Each week nearly 30,000 women of all ages and stages find their spirits lifted by the show's light-hearted look at menopause. While some women choose to live with their symptoms, there are many therapies for the conditions associated with menopause. Today, women can expect to live one third of their lives after menopause.

| Priligy dapoxetine a Premature Ejaculation treatment pill overview |
| A new drug has been approved for the treatment of premature ejaculation in men. The content below throws more light on this drug which is popularly known as Priligy Important information about Priligy and premature ejaculation Priligy dapoxetine has been recently approved for the treatment of premature ejaculation in men. As a result, there is a huge demand for this drug among men who suffer from premature ejaculation. However, you shouldn’t buy Priligy before learning important information about this drug. What is Priligy? Priligy is an oral drug that is prescribed to men who suffer from premature or rapid ejaculation. It contains dapoxetine hydrochloride as the main ingredient, which belongs to a group of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs. Priligy helps to prolong the ejaculation process in men during sex. What are strengths of Priligy?
Priligy is available in two dosage strengths – 30 mg and 60 mg. Out of these two dosages; you should take only the recommended one, as and when needed. Priligy isn’t for day to day use. You can take the recommended dose with a glass of water about 1-3 hours prior to sexual intercourse. You shouldn’t take more than one dose of Priligy in 24 hours. Who should take Priligy?
Priligy can be prescribed to any man who falls in the age group 18-64 years, providing he suffers from genuine problem of premature ejaculation. It shouldn’t be taken by individuals who are below 18 years in age. Who shouldn’t take Priligy?
- Patients suffering from moderate to severe liver impairment or sever kidney failure shouldn’t take Priligy for treating premature ejaculation
- Patients with heart problems shouldn’t take Priligy
- The use of Priligy shouldn’t be combined with drugs such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors, thioridazine, antidepressant medicines, and herbal treatments
- Priligy shouldn’t be combined with CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, saquinavir, telithromycin, nefazadone, nelfinavir and atazanavir
Medical experts consider Priligy as safe and effective treatment for premature ejaculation however; it’s not completely free from undesirable side effects. Before taking it for treating your premature ejaculation problem, you should learn about its precautions. About premature ejaculation or PE Premature ejaculation is one of the most frustrating sexual problems in men. It affects an estimated 30-40% of men population. In the UK, 1 out of every 4 men suffers from premature ejaculation leading to increased frustration levels among them. Premature ejaculation is also known as rapid ejaculation. It is defined as the inability of men to prolong their ejaculation process during sex thus decreasing the satisfaction levels for both the partners. Primarily, the causes of premature ejaculation in men are considered to be psychological in nature however, it’s not limited to that only, as some physical conditions such as urinary tract infection or prostate problems can also give rise to these problems. Whatever be the cause of your rapid ejaculation, you can now treat it very effectively with the help of Priligy, provided it suits you. To check your suitability for Priligy, you have to do a consultation with a medical doctor or your GP who conducts your thorough check up and then, if found suitable can prescribe you a valid prescription, which allows you to buy Priligy from any local licensed pharmacy. Another way to check your suitability for Priligy is through an online consultation from the website of any licensed online clinic. An online consultation can save your time, energy and money. However, it can’t replace face-to-face consultation with a doctor or your GP. Source: Priligy Dapoxetine |

| Hope For Psoriasis Sufferers |
There are more than 7 million psoriasis sufferers in America. This article addresses the most common questions about it: - 'What is it?' 'What causes it?' 'Can you catch it from someone who has it?' and 'Is there a cure?' 1. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition. While it's not life-threatening, it can be very severe and disabling. It often appears between the ages of 15 and 35 but it can develop at any age. As many as 15 per cent contract psoriasis before their tenth birthday and it occurs nearly equally in men and women. There are five types of psoriasis but the most common form, plaque psoriasis, appears as raised, red patches or lesions covered with a silvery white build-up of dead skin cells, called scale. Psoriasis can occur on any part of the body but typically on the scalp, elbows, knees, and the base of the back. However, it can develop anywhere, including the nails, palms, soles, genitals and face (which is rare). Strangely, the patches of white skin often show up on the same place on each side of the body. 2. The causes of psoriasis are still unknown to us but it is believed to have a genetic component. Most professionals agree that the immune system is set off by mistake, which speeds up the growth cycle of skin cells. A normal skin cell matures and falls off within a month but a psoriatic skin cell takes only a few days to rise to the surface and then, instead of falling off, the cells accumulate and form the lesions. 3. It's not contagious; you can't 'catch' it and people who have it are no threat to other people but it is an embarrassing condition which as well as causing an itchy skin can have a psychological effect too, since it influences people's readiness to let others see their skin. This not only can dictate what clothes can be worn or which social activities can be enjoyed but it can also make it difficult to mix with the opposite sex. 4. Regrettably, there is no cure but there are more and more treatments available which at least reduce the symptoms. People often need to try out different treatments before they find one that works for them. Diseases which affect the skin may seem relatively unimportant when compared with other conditions but it's worth remembering that the skin is the largest organ in the body and it plays an important role in controlling body temperature and as a defence against infection. Large areas of psoriasis can lead to infection, loss of fluid and bad circulation. So, is there hope for a cure? Yes there is. Scientists are studying psoriasis more than ever before. They understand much more about its genetic causes and how it involves the immune system. Both the federal government and The National Psoriasis Foundation are funding research to discover the cause of psoriasis and to find a cure. |

| Can You Reduce Your Risk of Breast Cancer? |
The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you'll find that the subject of cancer is certainly no exception.
We hear it all the time?lose weight for your health. Few people however, realize the extent to which this is critical to their physical well-being and ultimately their life expectancy.
In January 2003, the Journal of the American Medical Association featured a study finding that obesity appears to lessen life expectancy, especially among young adults. The researchers compared Body-Mass Index (BMI) to longevity and found a correlation between premature death and higher BMIs. For example, a 20-year-old white male, 5'10" weighing 288 pounds with a BMI of greater than 40 was estimated to lose 13 years of his life as a result of obesity.Jamie McManus, M.D., F.A.A.F.P. and author of "Your Personal Guide to Wellness" notes that while this study referenced extreme levels of obesity, there are still millions of overweight people in developed countries with a life expectancy rate that is three to five years less than their healthy-weight counterparts. She also estimates that there are 600,000 obesity related deaths each year in America.
Just how does obesity shorten our lifespan? The answer to this question is complex, yet there is a clear link between obesity and the development of cancer. An extensive study conducted by the American Cancer Institute involving 750,000 people showed that obesity significantly increased the risk of cancer developing in the following organs: breast, colon, ovaries, uterus, pancreas, kidneys and gallbladder.
Michael Thun, MD, vice-president of epidemiology and surveillance research for the American Cancer Society (ACS) says one reason obesity may raise cancer risk is because fat cells produce a form of estrogen called estradiol that promotes rapid division of cells, increasing chances of a random genetic error while cells are replicating, which can lead to cancer. In addition, fat centered around the abdomen may increase insulin and insulin-like growth factors in the blood, which may increase cancer risk.
"Women who are obese after menopause have a 50% higher relative risk of breast cancer," notes Thun, "and obese men have a 40% higher relative risk of colon cancer?. Gallbladder and endometrial cancer risks are five times higher for obese individuals".There is evidence that cancer rates in developed countries are increasing at 5 to 15 times faster than developing countries. A major contributor to this alarming reality has proven to be diet. In populations where the diet consists mostly of fresh fruit and vegetables and whole grains ? in contrast to the typical Western diet of fatty meats, refined flours, oils and sugars ? the risk of cancer is much lower.
The interaction of diet and the development of cancer is an active field of research and Dr David Heber, M.D., Ph.D. and author of "What Color is Your Diet", says "It appears that diet has its most significant effects after the cancer has already formed, acting to inhibit or stimulate the growth of that cancer". At the risk of oversimplifying a complex set of interactions, the typical Western diet that leads to obesity may actually act to stimulate the growth of cancer cells. It is never too late to improve your health through healthful eating and adopting a more health-giving lifestyle. Here are simple steps to follow which can make an immediate improvement to your health and vitality.
The best time to learn about cancer is before you're in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable cancer experience while it's still free.
1. Check your Body Mass Index (BMI) to determine if weight has become health risk. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 60% of Americans are overweight, defined as having a BMI (a ratio of height to weight) over 25. Of those, nearly half (27%) qualify as obese, with a body mass index of 30 or more. In 1980, just 15% of Americans were considered obese. You can check your BMI at the website below.
2. Match your diet to your body's requirements. If you eat and drink more calories than your body requires you will put on weight. Learn to control calories and portion sizes, make recipes leaner, and eat infrequently from fast food restaurants. Also learn how to snack with healthful choices.
3. Color your diet with a large variety of colorful, cancer-fighting fruit and vegetables. There are seven different color ranges of both fruit and vegetables and by choosing between 5 to 9 daily serves from a wide range of fruit and vegetables, we are extending our consumption of cancer (and other disease) fighting nutrients.
4. Eat lean protein with every meal. Protein provides a powerful signal to the brain providing a longer sense of fullness. The right source of protein is essential to controlling your hunger with fewer calories and necessary to maintain your lean muscle mass. Choices of protein should be flavored soy shakes with fruit; the white meat of chicken and turkey, seafood such as shrimps, prawns scallops and lobster and ocean fish or vegetarians may prefer soy based meat substitutes.
5. Rev up your metabolism with activity. If you want to enjoy a lifetime of well-being, exercise is a key ingredient. Colleen Doyle, MS, RD, director of nutrition and physical activity for the American Cancer Society (ACS), says adults should do something for 30 minutes each day that takes as much effort as a brisk walk. Children should be active for an hour each day. We are more likely to develop habits around things we enjoy, so seek activities which you enjoy doing. It is also helpful to build physical activity into your daily routine: use the stairs instead of the escalator or lift at work, park your car in the parking bay furthest from the super marketing and don't use the remote control to change TV channels.
6. Get support to ensure you develop a healthful eating plan and reach your goal weight. Whilst a small percentage of people possess the discipline to lose weight, many obese people have developed strong thoughts and habits concerning the food they eat. In order to establish new habits, most people respond well to some form of consistent encouragement and coaching. A study, "Effects of Internet Behavioral Counseling on Weight Loss in Adults at Risk of Type 2 Diabetes" shows that participants who had the support of weight loss coaching lost more weight than those who didn't. The study concluded that the support of a weight loss coach can significantly improve weight loss results.
Being overweight or obese has been identified next to smoking, as the most preventable major risk to developing cancer. Even small weight losses have been shown to have beneficial health effects. So it's never to late to start and you can never be too young or too old to be concerned about your health and do something about achieving a more healthy weight.
Now might be a good time to write down the main points covered above. The act of putting it down on paper will help you remember what's important about cancer.
In the meantime you can find out more by visiting the web site listed below.

| Lemons for Asthma Attacks and Other Illnesses |
Lemons, they are one of the best fruits to use if you are sick or have asthma. Learn why and how you need to use them if you have asthma
Most people shy away from lemons because they are sour. Or, they make lemon juice and then kill their beneficial effects by adding sugar. Well, here is what your are missing if you don't drink fresh natural lemon aid every morning.
For asthma, lemon juice is great because it,
It is antiseptic - kills germs that hide in your mucus It destroys bad bacteria that lives in your mouth, stomach, and intestines It helps to dissolve mucus so when you have a cold or cough you recover quicker. The combination of 8 oz of water and lemon greatly cuts into your thick mucus that builds up in your bronchial tubes. Helps to cleanse your blood and clean blood makes your lung tisse healthier
Lemons are high in vitamin C and potassium. They also contain plenty of fiber and phytochemcials, which contain antioxidants many of which have not been studied.
Use only lemons that are yellow and don't have any signs of green. You can store lemons in a plastic bag in the refrigerator and they will last for up to 5-6 days. To use these lemons bring them out and let them come to room temperature.
If you have a lot of lemons, you can squeeze the juice and freeze them in ice trays for later use.
If you have acid reflux or ulcers use lemons with caution and use your common sense to decide how much juice to drink. With acid reflux or ulcers use DGL or Mastic gum to clear the H..pyloric bacteria.
Lemons also tend to thin the blood so if you are on drugs that thin the blood, avoid using a lot of lemon juice.
When you have asthma, you can use 3-4 lemons daily. You can use up to ten lemons per day without much problem when you are trying to resolve a health issue. What you can do for asthma is make a thermos drink where you squeeze 4-5 lemons into 32 oz or less of distilled water and drink this juice all day long. Just remember to rinse out your mouth with fresh water after you drink the lemon juice. |

| Understanding the Tummy tuck procedure and Complications from Tummy tuck surgery |
Tummy tuck surgery is performed thousands of times successfully each year with out any risk for patients going through the tummy tuck procedure.
If you are worried or concerned about complications associated with the tummy tuck procedure, talking to a qualified plastic surgeon that has been trained in body contouring should help alleviate many concerns you may have.
Finding a good experienced plastic surgeon should not be difficult as plastic surgery is practiced abundantly in most major cities.
It should be noted that with advancements and technology in plastic surgery, most complications following tummy tuck surgery are deemed rare.
Educating yourself about the tummy tuck procedure should be your first step in helping you choose a plastic surgeon. A good qualified plastic surgeon will take time to discuss with you procedures in place to minimize complications from tummy tuck surgery.
Ask your plastic surgeon lots of questions about the tummy tuck procedure and any complications that could develop following your tummy tuck surgery. Being well informed is the best choice you can do for yourself and should help alleviate most concerns you may have.
Listed below are some of the complications associated with the tummy tuck procedure that should be addressed with your plastic surgeon.
Allergic reaction - to the anesthesia
Infection - can be a serious problem and if bleeding occurs may develop into a hematoma
Hematoma - A collection of blood under the skin (commonly referred to a blood blister)
Blood clots - More common with women taking birth control pills.
Fat necrosis - After the abdominal wall has been stretched. Blood supply to the remaining fat and skin has been damaged. On rare occasions this may lead to necrosis of the fat cells which then become liquefied and hardened.
Swelling - Mostly lasts for a month a month to six weeks following surgery.
Bruising - Common in the abdomen area but in severe cases can extend to the surrounding skin.
Skin Loss - The abdominal wall is stretched during surgery and blood supply to the skin may be damaged which may result in death of the skin in the surrounding areas. This is more common in people with diabetes and smokers. If this occurs a skin graft may be needed.
Wound Separation - Scar tissue heals slowly and some separation may be expected, although rarely a problem it may lead to a heavier scar and slower recovery.
Some common plastic surgery techniques being utilized today to reduce complications in certain areas following your tummy tuck surgery are as follows.
Pain and nausea can be greatly reduced if your plastic surgeon injects and long lasting numbing medicine in the rectus muscle which has been tightened during the tummy tuck procedure. This is a simple procedure if performed by your plastic surgeon will most likely reduce complications from pain and expedite your recovery from plastic surgery.
Applying a topical steroid cream for a few days following surgery will significantly reduce complications from scarring, and if followed up for about six weeks your scars will fade faster and become much less noticeable.
Fluid collection under the skin following your tummy tuck surgery can be reduced by placing drains under the skin at the time surgery is performed.
Another procedure you may ask your plastic surgeon about for reducing the complications of fluid collection is by placing internal stitches between the fascia (gristle) and the underside of your fat. Most likely this will prevent any complications from fluid collection before they start.
This tummy tuck procedure may reduce the time of having your drains in place to just 2-3 days following your tummy tuck surgery
Becoming educated in the tummy tuck procedure is your responsibility and should not be avoided. Only then will you be able to make wise choice finding a qualified plastic surgeon that you will be confident with to perform your tummy tuck surgery.
After carefully choosing your plastic surgeon you will then be able to understand the procedures in place to reduce any risk of complications. |

| Weight Loss and Common Sense |
Whether you are following a rapid weight loss dietary plan or attempting to lose those excess pounds slowly, you are facing a life style change that is based totally on how your working week goes. One of the most important aspects of losing weight is mental attitude and changing bad habits and replacing them with new, although good ones, something that involves a certain consistency. There are many things that can affect your weight loss, for instance: Genetic make-up Past or current psychological issues Mental attitude Excess weight can cause a number of health issues, including those of self image and worth. Even though the health risks are reduced when somebody starts to lose that excess weight, it is the self-confidence and self-esteem returning that is the most evident. Rapid weight loss programs can accomplish this, although they are by and large a combination of things. A good, nutritious low-fat diet plan and regular exercise will be needed too. The dietary plan must be flexible to your tastes other wise it will fail, put aside at least a quarter of an hour each day to carry out some kind of physical exercise like brisk walking, running or other form of circulatory exercise. Remember that even though there are many rapid weight loss plans available, everyone is different so not all will work, some individuals will have faster success than others: this is perfectly normal and is not an indication of failure. In cases like these it is best to substitute a more demanding exercise plan to compensate and learn to take notice of your body and alter your dietary plan accordingly. Listen as the body talks to you because everyone's metabolism reacts differently to the various fast weight loss programs, so try substituting one plan for another to compensate for the body's reaction. Exercise plans must be suit each person so if walking is all that can be carried out, then walk. Walking is a fantastic exercise and it won't hurt if there is a little muscular tissue built up in the process because it burns calories quicker. Exercise often means a great deal of body fluids are lost and have to be put back. Rapid weight loss counts on flushing out your system so you must stay hydrated throughout the process, about eight large glasses per day should be enough. Stay away from fried foods particularly deep-fried as they contain a large amount of fat, and while fish and chicken appear leaner than beef, this white meat can hold more fat than when beef is fried. Grilled food is better as the fat is not retained in the food or if it is, very little, so it will be much better for you. Even though some diets advocate a reduction in carbohydrates, this should be done in counsel with a dietitian as carbohydrates are the fuel that creates the energy needed for your body to operate. By adhering to this type of plan you can anticipate to lose around a pound or so in weight per day, but bear in mind that once you stop, the weight will go back on again. |

| Breaking Into a Vegetable Juicing Diet |
So you have your new juicer and are ready to make all the vegetable juicing recipes you can. Before you buy lots of different vegetables to juice, you need to know some basics that will help you break into a vegetable juicing diet. You must integrate vegetable juice into your diet with baby steps. Juicing allows you to absorb more nutrients because the vegetable juice is already removed for the pulp for your intestines to take them in. However, not all vegetable juice can be digested that easily, especially the green leafy vegetable juice that is very rich. It is better to use vegetables that are easy to consume first, such as celery, zucchini, beets, carrots, and cucumbers. Use recipes that are based on a combination of these. After a while, when there are no issues with digestion, slowly add in some dark greens like broccoli, lettuce and spinach. Eventually, you should have no problems with almost all vegetables. It is not a good idea stick with the same few vegetable juicing recipes that you enjoy. Try out juicing recipes that include vegetables you may not like. Reduce the amount it calls for if you need to and use other fruits and vegetables you like to mask the taste. That way, you won't get too used to a narrow diet. Your body may have a difficult time adjusting to changes in your eating habits otherwise. You also insure that you are getting a many vitamins and minerals. I would suggest using your favorite juicing recipes every 3 days or so, and the other days to try new things. Many people don't like to deal with the taste of vegetable juice because it is may be too rich in nutrients and too bitter. If it is bitter, then sweeten it a little! Add some carrots and beets. Alternatively, you can use apples, grapes and other fruits to give it an enjoyable taste. If it's too dense, dilute it with water. |

| Fish Oil benefits for Women |
As any woman will testify, it's not easy being a woman; they are perhaps a mother or a grandmother, a career girl, or a soccer mom, and they are still not regarded as an equal among men. Possibly because they have more emotional strength and endurance, and smell much sweeter too, but what do I know. Anyway, despite the differences they may have compared to men, they still suffer from similar health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, depression, and cancer. How these health problems are handled is up to the patient.
One way to handle them, is to wait until you begin to suffer from anyone of the above conditions, or indeed another condition, and then seek medical treatment. Quite possibly something a man might opt to do, but perhaps not a choice a women would make if they had hindsight on their side.
And because you are reading this article, hindsight happens to be on your side. You could indeed opt for something that could provide protection from the above mentioned medical conditions, before they make their initial appearance. And, as you have probably guessed, taking fish oil happens to be a choice you could make. Specific health benefits of fish oil for women include reduced PMS and menopause symptoms and reduced risk of breast cancer. Something all women, I'm sure would appreciate, perhaps other halves might join them in that appreciation too!
Every single 'leading' cause of death for a woman has two things in common. These are of course that they're degenerative and preventable. Ranking, I feel, is immaterial, as I don't believe that winning the competition for most degenerative disease isn't exactly something to be proud of. There is however something you can do to remedy these preventable diseases, and that is get more omega 3 fatty acids into your diet.
Research continually affirms the power of these tiny, natural nutrients. It confirms, that if you increase your omega 3 intake, you can help to prevent heart disease, cancer, depression, diabetes, memory loss, Alzheimer's, PMS, dry skin, and much more.
So, with all these benefits of fish oil for women, would you really decide not to take them for your health? |

| Placenta Stem Cells Successfully Treats Parkinson's Disease |
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic neurological disorder that produces symptoms such as confusion, decreased dexterity, insomnia, lack of motor coordination, memory loss, shaking, stiff muscles, and tremors. Stem cells are an undifferentiated group of cells, which, depending on their surrounding conditions, are capable of developing into other types of cells such as liver cells, kidney cells, brain cells, or any of the other 260 different types of cells that make up the human body. When Dr. Mehmet Oz appeared on Oprah Winfrey's show in March 2009, he showed a section of the human brain where lines are not present in a person who has Parkinson's disease. He believes that stem cells could be placed in that area to regenerate the damaged brain. He predicted that the use of stem cells to treat Parkinson's disease would begin in about eight years. What he obviously does not realize is that a clinic in Mexico has been using placental stem cells derived from placenta (afterbirth) to successfully treat Parkinson's for 18 years! That's about how long actor Michael J. Fox (known in the early '80s as Alex P. Keaton on the hit show Family Ties) has been living with the illness. Since Mr. Fox is an advocate for stem cell treatment, it surprises me that he hasn't taken advantage of treatments offered in other countries. Maybe he doesn't know the treatment is available. But it is, and ISCI founder Rita Alexander is a first-hand witness of the results seen in patients who have been treated for cancer, cerebral palsy, dermatomyositis, diabetes, hepatitis C, HIV, immune deficiency, kidney disorders, multiple sclerosis, migraines, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson's, retinitis pigmentosa, rheumatoid arthritis, spina bifida, and stroke. Rita has personally received several treatments to relieve the debilitating effect of rheumatoid arthritis. James Devlin is a resident of Hawaii, but his paradise became a nightmare 15 years ago when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Unwilling to accept the reality of continual mental and physical decline, he sought answers around the world to stop the disease from taking over his brain and his life. His symptoms were the standard Parkinson's package including stiff muscles, decreased dexterity and coordination, insomnia, memory loss, confusion, and tremors in his arms which made it difficult for him to feed himself. Normal daily activities such as dressing, eating, and writing became increasingly challenging. James was prescribed a long list of medications to manage the increasing number of symptoms. Two and a half years ago, he found the road to recovery from PD at the International Stem Cell Institute (ISCI). When Rita first met Mr. Devlin, he was very stiff and rigid, battling constant tremors as he made his way through the airport. When he returned to the clinic six months after his first placental stem cell treatment, his body was relaxed, he walked with ease, the excessive tremors were gone, and a big smile replaced the vacant facial expression he had just a few months before. After several additional stem cell treatments, James Devlin has been able to eliminate all Parkinson's medication and spends his days surfing in paradise. At 67 years old, he enjoys a 75 percent recovery. Unfortunately, not everyone is physically and financially able to travel to Mexico. That is why Rita Alexander started ISCI in April 2008. She wishes many more people who are suffering with Parkinson's disease knew there were stem cell treatments that could change the course of their lives. ISCI assists with patient education, pre- and post-treatment support, travel logistics, and financial matters regarding treatment. Her goal is to help people access treatment that is already available and to bring the treatment to the U.S. For more information about ISCI or to arrange a consultation or schedule an appointment, please visit http://www.iStemCelli.com or contactRita Alexander, Executive Director at International Stem Cell Institute, at 800-609-7795. |
